A job interview can be a scary moment, compelling one to keep digging on interview questions and tips. But as fast as your beating anxious heart turns your day into a hectic preparation schedule, take time to breath and park off the highway.

The advantages you get from these series of short reads are good but why not allot a time for one important preparation that has its own share of benefits -- Read a book.

I know reading a book may be the last thing on your checklist when hunting for a job, but I encourage you to do so. Why?

Judging from my past experience, I can say this much longer but simple preparation has saved me a lot -- Reading a book gives an interviewee "A topic to talk about."

Imagine being asked by the interviewer "Discuss for five minutes a topic that interest you." It's not the mainstream question and answer portion. This may catch you off guard and empty handed. At that moment, do you have anything in mind worth sharing to last several minutes of talk time?

With each passing second you spend thinking about a topic, your anxiety escalates. Much worst, you'll end up with no topic. Metalblock...speechless. A big no.

A wasted opportunity. It would have been a breeze had you allotted time to read a single book. It's always good to have something ready for use. Wouldn't it be great to dig in your most recent memories and find something of use, than be lost in your past experiences? Building a store of readily available information is the reason you've check out those interview tips. Now, add a book to those reads.

A common interview question is "What are your hobbies and interests?" One productive hobby you can mention is reading a book. Wouldn't it be perfect to mention something you've actually done? You'll be able to dodge follow-up questions from the interviewer, something like the last book you've read.

Book, eBook -- it's front cover may bring visions of long sitting but there's one way to go--read it.

But before you begin your journey, let me ease your nerve by reminding you that there are myriad of book genre you can choose from. You don't have to settle on the reads you find boring from the start.

Reading a book is a worthwhile experience especially when you've found the one that catches your interest. Fantasy? Action? Romance? Horror? Thriller? They're all out there for your picking. Buy a book. Borrow from friends or your local library. Download it as eBook. Find it and there's a way to get it.
