What Topic should I Choose for my Blog?
by Arlene Gentallan
Choosing the topic of interest when starting a blog is the first step, but still many find this process hard and frustrating.
It makes sense considering one is faced with a vast selection of niche. So, where should one begin?
A lot often, you'll be given the beginner's advice: Consider your hobbies and interest. What is it that you're passionate about?
It's a great idea to start a blog on a subject you're already knowledgeable of. Along with your motivation to pursue this niche, you're in the perfect position to share some personal advice and tips regarding the topic of your choice.
But, what if you feel your knowledge is not enough to write a blog about it. It's okay, as long as your interest for this particular niche is present. You do have to research more about the topic to gain insights, adding in your personal touch as you write your blog post.
To make your topic selection easier, why not list down your interest and then rank them. Which one to choose? It's up to you.
Are you selecting a Blog Topic to Monetize?
But before you make that final decision, there are certain factors you have to consider, mainly dictated by your reason for creating a blog.
So now, ask yourself "Why do you want to create a blog?"
The main point being: is your blog's purpose for personal or commercial consumption?
Is it simply an outlet for your personal thoughts and opinions or are you planning to monetize your blog?
Just a heads up. There are certain blog topics that usually don't survive well on the commercial grounds like "Personal Blog" and "Random Blog."
Most people don't care about a stranger's personal life unless obcourse that person is really popular. But generally, people are not searching for someone's personal happenings.
Blogging randomly also has less chances on the online marketplace considering people are mostly on the lookout for a specific thing.
So, when choosing a blog topic for commercial reason, replace those with a topic that's "Popular" and "Specific."
Remember, your opinion and expertise still matters commercially speaking, but only if it's about a specific popular topic your audience has an interest on.
