IELTS, which stands for English Language Testing Services, is a four part examination desiged to gauge an individual's proficiency in using the english language. It is recognized by more than 140 countries across the world.

You can either take this langauge test through the IDP or the British Council, although for the purpose of this blog post, we will focus on how to register using the former.

Go to the IDP website https://my.ieltsessentials.com/

There are two sets of examinations you can choose from, either the IELTS or the IELTS test for UKVI, with each serving a different purpose so make sure you know exactly what is required of you. EILTS UKVI is usually a requirement for UK Visa application or immigration.

You will also have to choose between two test modules: "Academic - IELTS" and "General Training - IELTS". The former is usually taken by people who want to purpose study while the latter is generally taken by those who want to work. Although, again, you will have to double check with your institution the specific test you need to accomplish.

In the Philippines, IDP conducts the IELTS examination in several locations:
  • Bacolod
  • Baguio
  • Batangas
  • Bulacan
  • Cabanatuan
  • Cagayan de Oro
  • Cauayan
  • Cebu
  • Dagupan
  • Davao
  • Dipolog
  • Dumaguete
  • General Santos
  • Iloilo
  • Laguna
  • Legazpi
  • Lipa
  • Manila
  • Naga
  • Pampanga
  • Tagaytay
  • Tarlac

In Manila, Philippines, there is actually an option to take a computer based IELTS test which is held at IDP Education - Philippines, 16th Floor Marco Polo Hotel, Sapphire Road, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, Manila 1600. This kind of test enables the examine to take the reading, listening, and writing parts of the test on a computer, but not the speaking part.

You have to choose a specific date and time (either 9:00AM or 2:00PM) when you will take the test. The time you choose will only cover the first 3 parts of the examination which are the speaking, reading, and writing part.

Depeding on availability, if you pick a morning schedule to take the IELTS, then, the speaking part of the test can be done on the afternoon. If you're taking the exam on the afternoon, the speaking part can be first done in the morning. Again, this depends of the availability so if all parts of the test can't be fit in on one day, then you will have to take the speaking part on a separate day.

When you register for IELTS throught the IDP website, you will actually be given a list of available time from which you can set an appointment for the speaking part.

Complete you booking and pay for the examination.
