Relationships are not always meant to last, but it's painful letting go. Be it you or the other party who broke up first.
There's a time for everything...including healing and letting go.
Here are things you can do to get over a break-up with your boyfriend or girlfriend.
1. Stay away from the person
Seeing the person directly or through social media, getting in touch via message, or phone call can trigger bitter memories. Don't snoop your ex, not even on facebook. You can't really move on from that person if you keep following him/her.
Seeing that person may distract you from the task at hand which is focusing more on yourself. It's a point in your life when you have to learn to live without him/her so it may be on your best interest to at least, stay away from your ex until you know you're ready.
2. You have a life
Your ex is part of your past. You have to think of yourself. Don't forget that before he/she came to you, you have a life. Keep yourself busy with personal matters. Depression kills. Don't neglect yourself.
3. Talk it out
Talking about what you feel. Chatting and hanging out with friends can ease a lot of tension. It's a great help if you have support people by your side. It's comforting to talk to someone who understands what you feel.
4. False hopes
Are you one of those people who believe that things will eventually work out and that you two will get back together? Do you truly believe that you two were meant to be or is it just you unable to take a "no" for an answer. If it's obvious that your ex no longer wants you, you're clinging on nothing. Letting go may be the most painful things in the word but it's it's for the best.
5. Don't get too hasty
Some people believe that when they start a new relationship soon, it will distract them from the pain of their past relationship. Be careful, this is a crucial time for healing. Your decision may be clouded. If you're not ready, things could backfire and you'll deal with a lot more pain than you have now. Take it easy. If your lover is serious about you, he/she could wait.
In time, you will move on. While past broken relationships may leave painful memories. There are things which you learn...helping you become mature.
