A sadist is someone who gains pleasure out of other’s
suffering. But it turns out, a sadist doesn’t just crave for someone’s agony
but also for a bitter taste...literally.
Certain food preference may in fact reflect certain
aspect of an individual’s persona.
A study by C Sagioglou and T Greitemeyer shows a positive
association between the choice of bitter foods and negative personality
traits sadism, antisocial traits, and “dark triad” namely, narcissism, machiavellianism,
and psychopathy.
“...the results suggest that how much people like bitter-tasting foods and drinks is stably tied to how dark their personality is.”
Does this mean that we have to be cautious the next
time someone grabs a dark chocolate bar or an unsweetened coffee?
