Overall, extinction has a slow beginning, boring backstories, and exciting revelations.

The first parts of the movie was rather uneventful as it go about the personal life of Peter, his family issues, his work, and recurring nightmares about alien invasion.

Although, I have to admit, I got fooled at the start. I thought Extinction will start off as a pretty intense movie, unfortunately, it turns out that the scene where a beam of light suddenly appeared out of thin air and started shooting people was just Pete's nightmare which abruptly came to an end.

They have to build-up tension, I guess. Introduce everybody. But you know, if the situation starts off intense, I'm sure we'll know them quite well as we go about with the running and screaming. I have to say that slow pace could have killed the nerves of the audience instead of providing them substantial information about the personal problems being experienced by the protagonist, even though those things would have made sense as we progress into the show.

It could have been an action-packed movie but instead, whoever made this film sacrificed action in exchange for illumination, yet I don't think that's fair.

There have been several episodes when Pete's nightmare makes you question whether or not this whole Extinction thing is just Pete's bad dream. I guess they're trying to confuse the audience as much as Pete is messed up with all of these things in his mind.

At some point during the movie, I just wish that aliens just freaking appear out of nowhere just to liven things up.

Endure 20 minutes. That doesn't seem too long, but I tell you, when it's a movie that you're watching, 20 minutes felt like forever.

21 minutes, that's when real action begins.

Who would have guess that the real action starts when Pete is busy stargazing and this dude arrives commenting that he's looking in the wrong direction and instead of looking up, he should focus on what's going on inside, then a bunch of extraterrestrial descended from the night sky, send a shock wave that shattered the glasses of the buildings, then started hunting down people gunfire.

Yep, it definitely is terrifying when your worse nightmare comes alive right before your very eyes, but seeing the whole start of this extermination thing in Pete and his family's viewpoint, the audience are stuck with the carnage that's going on inside the building, instead of the chaos of the outside word. You know we kind of follow their running, hiding, and screaming thing when in fact the camera should be outside focusing on collapsing building and a big mother ship, if you will.

No, we're stuck inside together with the protagonists. Anyways, Pete is the representative of the human race so let's not complain.

At this point, I wanted to know what the alien looks like. There was a sneak peak at about 28 minutes of the movie but you could barely see anything. Let me tell you, I'm setting my expectation high, this creature better be a bad-ass one. Surprise me with (after 53 minutes on the movie), the alien removed it's head gear and my suspicion has been confirmed, it's a freaking human in alien suit! No!!!!!!!!!!! How could this be!!!!!!!!!! In the defense of the supposedly alien, he is more handsome than Peter. Sorry Pete.

Anyways, back to 36 minutes into the show, when Peter, his family and friends did step out of the rooftop, giving us an outside view, buildings were burning, then a missile hit a bunch of people and there's this mechanical aircraft that appeared from which they have to hide from.

If you've watched the boring first 20 minutes of the movie, then you'll have an idea about where Pete works at, supposedly a factory which is a government building, which they will try to reach through a series of tunnels previously narrated at Alice's workplace. Supposedly, that underground section of that place is fortified. So, they battle all odds just to get there.

How do you suppose humanity will fight off these annihilators? Gunfight! There was this brief moment when a bunch of people started open firing at the aliens, but, then they all got wiped out by a huge aircraft.

Did I not mention that during their escape from the building where they reside, they stumble into this alien who they wrestle with, knock down, and stole an alien gun and 51 minutes into the show the alien is back to retrieve the gun. Then, the alien, who we'll call Miles, helped them.

Then, the revelation, Peter isn't the real deal, he's just a family guy. David, his supposed workmate, was the one driving the string in the fight against the invaders or the one leading the evacuation plan. That's okay, Peter is still a nice guy.

Another revelation, 1 hour into the show, Miles the alien is now the human, whereas Peter, Alice, their kids and the inhabitants of their city were all synthetics, artificial intelligence, AI. I got fooled again! Peter was not the representative of the human race. Miles was.

It turns our, humanity has been driven out of Earth 50 years ago because of their ego, protests, and racism, I mean, AI racism. Well, the truth is, 50 years ago, humans tried to exterminate synthetics (that's what they called AIs), but instead they got pounded.

At this point, it doesn't even matter that Peter is just a family guy instead of a soldier that fires guns at humans...uh, you know, that will taint his good reputation.

Synthetics have the ability to wipe out old memories so they won't have post traumatic stress disorder. Apparently, Peter and others have their's removed and the nightmares he was having were flashbacks from the life they endured during the time when humans tried to exterminate them. Although, not all synthetics had their memories removed, because they knew that one day, humans will be back to take over. Alice and Peter regained their memory and I guess other synthetics will have to go to a Whole Life Wellness Center to get their's back since humans are back, they have to prepare for war.

There's a train station below the workplace building of Peter and it was used by the synthetics to escape.

There's this scene near the ending when Peter and Alice were being chased by a bunch of humans but the train towards safety is leaving so they chased after it and loo and behold, it stopped and their girls together with David came running towards them and hugged them. Really, are humans with guns really that much of a joke to you! Shouldn't it be this part that you should thank the Director and get the hell in the train! Men, you're endangering all the synthetics. If those were human brains running the train, Peter and Alice would have been exterminated. I know how we operate.

Oh, the train has a huge machine gun at the back of it that wiped out the humans chasing them.

But, the actions by Miles the human, as realized by Peter, is a hope that one day, both can coexist in peace.

The end. That was it.
